NX Hints and Tips – view a model from inside the model
We all know how to zoom, pan and rotate around models. But what if you want to view a model from inside the model?
You can use this method to show a correct perspective view from inside a vehicle, a building, or a ship.
This technique uses two NX functions – creating a camera and setting the center of rotation.
Remember that the camera location and perspective are stored with the camera definition, but not the Rotate Point.

NX CAE Tips & Tricks – FEA Workflow Part #2
In Part 1, we first became acquainted with essential user interface navigation before creating an idealized, analysis-specific representation of our bracket. Next stop on our journey – meshing. Sometimes referred to as gridding, meshing is the process of dividing up geometry into discrete regions that can be subjected to numerical solution. To sound extra smart, or if you just like big words, you may also refer to meshing as a form of ‘domain discretization.’

NX Hints and Tips – Full Screen Mode
Sometimes your NX session gets cluttered with too many open windows and toolbars.
Did you know that there is a way to enter full screen mode in NX? Continue reading “NX Hints and Tips – Full Screen Mode” »
NX8 Help Videos – Create a path thru complex curves
This is my second post on the new NX8 help video tutorials. As I mentioned last time, these videos are available to all NX users when they install NX8.
This week, let’s look at a more complex scenario. We create a path through complex curves. Continue reading “NX8 Help Videos – Create a path thru complex curves” »
New NX 8 Help and Videos
With NX8, the NX Help system has a new interface that makes it easier for you to find information and browse content.
Some of the key enhancements are:
- Search performance is improved.
- Search filtering gives you control to search in specific areas of NX.
- Help is reorganized to make navigation more logical, to increase the relevancy of search results, and to make search filtering more specific.
- Breadcrumb links are available on each page to help you keep track of your location. ( A table of contents is still available, but is not displayed by default. )
- Links to all related information are displayed on the right side. Links are organized by information type under different headings.
- And my favorite enhancement; the video examples included with the Help now include voice-over narration. This narration provides important information about the steps being demonstrated. For each video, you can use the options on the play bar to display closed caption text or to mute the narration.
Following is a video from NX Help:
Be sure to click on the red CC button, to see the caption text.
Would you like to see more NX help videos? Let me know if you’d like me to post more of them.
