Get your Solid Edge Catalog Parts….Now!

Monday, June 27th, 2011

My new bff*, Cadenas, put together a couple videos on the new Solid Edge Part Community.  Now they are kind of a quiet lot but if you are in a cube with a bunch of engineers trying to get some work done, this is good. Continue reading “Get your Solid Edge Catalog Parts….Now!” »

Solid Edge, Dell Workstations, and a Comfy Chair – See them at the ST4 Launch Event

Wednesday, June 8th, 2011

Nothing goes better with your CAD software than a comfy chair and some good hardware. When we started talking about the Solid Edge ST4 Launch Event (there is still time to sign up), Dell went out of their way to help us with the hardware part.  Those of you that are attending will see some nicely equipped Dell Precision T5500 workstations in the class rooms and their new Dell Precision M6600 mobile workstations at the Dell table at the conference. As for the chairs, I’m still hoping to color match some high quality deck chairs to these workstations for the launch event (am I taking my new partnering role too far?) Changing Positions –Engineering an Ecosystem

Monday, February 28th, 2011

If you are reading Dora’s Engineering Week posts the last few days, you may have seen some comments by Scott Wertel on the flexibility of an engineering degree, how social media can help you connect with others,  and even the importance of ethics and ideals in the profession.

Interestingly, while he was writing this, I was in the process of changing positions from the Solid Edge Simulation product manager to the director of 3rd party ecosystems for Velocity. So what does this mean? Continue reading “Changing Positions –Engineering an Ecosystem” »

Injection Molding? Checkout Simpoe

Monday, December 13th, 2010

Susan  Cinadr,  our tireless Solid Edge marketer and fellow blogger was in China a few weeks ago and got to talking with some folks from the Simpoe company.  Simpoe does plastic injection simulation software so she encouraged them to talk to me. After some quick intros, I got a copy of the software and have been doing plastic injections examples in my spare time the last few days. Continue reading “Injection Molding? Checkout Simpoe” »
